
AfriCGE provides research, capacity building and advisory programmes designed to promote an inclusive and green economy in Africa. We focus on a broad range of issues that enable better understanding of green economy and how to harness the opportunities it provides. Our research and advisory work focuses specifically on the water-energy- food security nexus, with cross cutting themes of governance, finance and entrepreneurship as enablers. Through these programmes, we provide support to both the public and private sector that seek to mainstream green economy in their strategies.

Building Landscape Resilience
Building resilient ecosystems that are able to provide crucial ecosystem services is a the core of what we do. We offer research and advisory services on landscape scale conservation efforts, such as planning, mapping and developing strategic interventions.
Our work specifically supports governments, business and civil society across Africa to develop strategies to achieve their sustainable development objectives. Our service consists of value chain innovation, skills development and data intelligence.
- Landscape Approach: We use a landscape approach that to ensure that interventions are effective both at the micro and macro-scale.
- Value Chain Innovation: We assist our clients in identifying opportunities for resource efficiency, and to minimise their climate-related business risks
- Skills Development: We provide clients with tools and frameworks to enable them to enhance their capacity and build resilience against global environmental change
- Data Intelligence: We undertake data analytics and projections to inform clients of emerging trends in the green economy
Green Enterpreneurship
We have developed a New Economy Approach to enterprise development that focuses on accelerating enterprises at the Base of the Pyramid (BoP). The new economy is a framework that seeks to place the wellbeing of people and the planet at the centre of economic development.
The New Economy Accelerator (NEA) Programme, offers enterprise development, mentorship and eco-inclusive business modelling, to high impact social and environmental start-ups in the green economy sector.
- Enterprise Development: We have proprietary content in the form of programme modules for accelerating enterprises to scale up and become investment ready
- Mentorship and Coaching: Provision of one-on-one mentorship between established business leaders and social and environmental entrepreneurs
- Eco-Inclusive Business Modelling: We provide tools and approaches for business model innovation to enable eco-inclusive business
Landscape Finance
We mobilise climate finance through our fund (GroFund) and channel these investments to sustainable enterprises in the forms of grants, equity and soft loans. In addition, we host databases of green investments, funds and trends across the green economy sector to inform decision-makers and investors. Through our business development programme, we build of pipeline of investment-ready enterprises to match with investors.
